"they" are talking about bringing the cowboys (football) to arlington near the ballpark in arlington (rangers). hey, hey i know it's ameriquest field in arlington, but that just sounds stupid so i'm calling it what it is ... the ballpark in arlington. it's a ball park in the town of arlington, so there.
now, there is the rangers, a major university, six flags and hurricane harbor (waterpark, which will always be known to me as wet 'n wild). do we really need yet another form of entertainment? mind you arlington does not have public transportation. opening day at the ballpark is just awful, and people didn't start liking them until they started playing better this year. no matter how bad the cowboys do, people love 'em. can you imagine the madness? plus i live and work by the ballpark. i don't want the cowboys here.
with more people there will be more crime. more traffic will bring more accidents. plus the thing that really gets me is they want to raise the sales tax in arlington from 7.5% to 8.0%. i know that isn't that much, but when you think that they are asking the citizens to fund this thing it just burns me up. they will increase taxes for sport/entertainment, but not for something worthy ... like public schools!
and you know what's going to happen. the citizens will fund this thing on the promise that more jobs will be available. like that's going to help the white collar worker. i don't think there will be additional communication professional jobs because they cowboys are here. it isn't going to help me and most others either.
mark my words (as my mother says) this will be a hassle ... a hassle i tell you. plus they're the dallas cowboys — keep 'em in dallas, don't bring 'em here!
