does anyone know how many soldiers have died during this iraq "war" on terrorism? i'm just wondering how far is this thing going to go? put aside the fact that there are actually no weapons of mass destruction over there and put aside the fact that we, as americans, were basically lied to about the real reason for going over there and fighting. i also know that it is the soldiers' job to defend our country. but after taking all of that into account if we are trying to "smoke out" the terrorists so something like 9/11 never happens again, how many soldiers are we willing to lose for the cause? when we've lost as many soldiers as people that we lost of 9/11, will that be enough or will we go behind that number? there just comes a point when you have to say, i've messed up, i was wrong and try to fix it the best you can. ... this is just something that puzzles me. i don't suspect anyone really has the answer for me, but i just thought i'd throw it out there.
p.s. finally got my annual review after basically sitting in my boss' office and refusing to leave. is that not ridiculous?

How did the review go?
The scary thing is, can we exit Iraq, or does that just turn it into a civil war in the country? I fear the latter...

i got a 5% raise, which might seem nice to some people, but 5% of close to nothing doesn't equal much. however, i am grateful and thankful that i have a job. and i know that this is not the end of the road for me. i still have far to go. so, i'm gonna stay positive. the criticism that he gave me was that i will start on a project 100 mph, then i'll hit an obstacle, put it to the side and come back later completing the project on or before deadline. i don't really understand how this is a bad thing. putting something to the side then coming back to look at it with a "fresh" set of eyes seems smart to me. but what do i know i'm just a 25-year old black girl in his eyes? he's really insecure and thinks i want his job. ha! i need more money than that too! :-)

Five percent that is great. When they announce our annual cost of living increases (they are rightfully ashamed to call it a raise) we grab our calculators and go to work. We cross our fingers and hope that it is enough to cover the rate increases for healthcare, dental and parking. If that is the only thing he could conger up as a perceived problem in his paranoid state of being you are doing a super job.
