does anybody wonder why the u.s. is pushing so vigorously for u.s. citizens to aid the tsunami victims but is not providing any encouragement for the acts of genocide that are taking place in sudan?

in 1994 nearly one million africans were killed by acts of genocide in rwanda, and most u.s. citizens barely heard about it. are we going to let something similar happen again becuase our attention is turned to asia, iraq and afghanistan?

i know we are but one country and we can't save everybody, but how and who determines what country is worthy of our help and financial resources? to me, if we can't help everybody to some extent, we shouldn't help anybody because it's just not fair.

perhaps is the sudanese people were a little fairer skinned they would attract some attention too?

I totally agree. I've been saying this for a long time now. So, pathetic and sad how the federal government acts.

It is sad because I think the media is too powerful. They have the power to designate which countries we aid by how much coverage they give. If the disaster gets a lot of attention like the tsunami, we give a lot of money. Heck we give money that we do not have to give to our own social programs according to the President’s new budget.
